When drops of rain fall on a body of water, expanding ripples of waves are formed. In the same way, sound waves create vibrations in the air as the performer plays each note. Minor triads divided between the hands in triplet rhythm continue to expand in range towards the climax. As ripples of water hit boundaries and reflect back, so do the triads contract in range, bringing the listener full circle as the final bars are reached.
